I chose white onions which are more tender when cooked and I simply cooked them in a pan for a few minutes. Ingredients for the Puff Pastry with Onions
- 1 roll puff pastry (round)
- 14 oz white onions
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3.5 oz speck
- 1/2 cup milk
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- to taste salt
How to prepare the Savory Pie with Onions
Peel the onions. Slice them thinly.
Pour 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil into a pan. Add the onions and let them cook on low heat for 7-8 minutes. Turn them often with a wooden spoon to soften them well.
Pour an egg, milk, and a pinch of salt into a bowl. Simply mix with a fork.
Add the grated parmesan cheese and the thinly sliced speck.
Add the cooked onions as well and mix well.
Roll out a round puff pastry sheet in a 10-inch diameter pan lined with parchment paper. Prick the base with the prongs of a fork.
Pour the mixture onto the puff pastry base and distribute it well with the back of a spoon. Fold the puff pastry all around.
Bake the Savory Pie with Speck and Onions in a preheated oven at 375°F in static mode for 30 minutes.
