Ingredients for the Orange Cake with Chocolate and Cinnamon

  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 6 tbsps Granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup Sweet plain yogurt
  • 1/3 cup Sunflower oil
  • 1 package Baking powder
  • 1 Grated orange zest
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1.75 oz Dark chocolate
  • 5.5 oz Dark chocolate
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsps Orange juice
  • as needed Sugar flowers
  • 1 Red ribbon

  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 cake pan

Cake Preparation

  • The cake can be prepared with a food processor or by hand in a bowl using a whisk.

    Pour the sugar into the food processor, or into a bowl to mix by hand, add the eggs and grated orange peel, and start mixing, set to speed 4, add the oil and yogurt, mix again, then blend in the flour and finally the baking powder, until you get a smooth and homogeneous cream.

  • Pour half the batter into a small, buttered, and floured pan, add the 1.75 oz of broken dark chocolate, then cover with the remaining batter.

    BAKING
    Put the cake in the oven and bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes, adjust the time based on your oven’s power.

  • In the meantime, take strips of untreated orange peels, soften them for two minutes in the microwave or a small saucepan along with 1 tbsp of sugar and the orange juice.

    Remove the cake from the oven, let it cool a bit, then take it out of the pan.

  • Melt the grated dark chocolate in a bowl in the microwave or in a small saucepan using a bain-marie method, over low heat, stirring continuously. Once the chocolate melts, remove from heat and continue stirring.

    Dip the orange peel strips halfway into the chocolate and place them in the fridge to cool.

  • DECORATION
    Place the cake on the serving plate, pour the dark chocolate over it, and spread it well with the back of a spoon.

    Decorate the cake with orange strips, sugar flowers, sprinkles, and whatever you like best.

    Allow the chocolate to set, then wrap a nice red ribbon around it.
