Ingredients

  • cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cup sugar
  • cup cornstarch
  • cup coffee
  • to taste sugar granules (for decoration)
  • 9 oz plain cookies

How to Make Blancmange with Cookies

  • Start by heating 2/3 of the milk in a saucepan, add the vanilla extract and sugar.

  • Add the remaining milk to a bowl, pour in the cornstarch, and mix until smooth and lump-free.

  • At this point, pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan with the hot milk.

  • Stir until it thickens.

  • Now start assembling the dessert: in a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the prepared cream, arrange the cookies soaked in coffee in the dish, then add the milk cream, making a total of two layers. Let the blancmange with cookies rest in the refrigerator.

  • At serving time, decorate with colored sugar sprinkles.

Storing blancmange with cookies

This dessert can be stored in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap, for up to 3 days; alternatively, you can also freeze it for up to two months.
