Ingredients
- 4¼ cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- cup sugar
- cup cornstarch
- cup coffee
- to taste sugar granules (for decoration)
- 9 oz plain cookies
How to Make Blancmange with Cookies
Start by heating 2/3 of the milk in a saucepan, add the vanilla extract and sugar.
Add the remaining milk to a bowl, pour in the cornstarch, and mix until smooth and lump-free.
At this point, pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan with the hot milk.
Stir until it thickens.
Now start assembling the dessert: in a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the prepared cream, arrange the cookies soaked in coffee in the dish, then add the milk cream, making a total of two layers. Let the blancmange with cookies rest in the refrigerator.
At serving time, decorate with colored sugar sprinkles.
Storing blancmange with cookies
This dessert can be stored in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap, for up to 3 days; alternatively, you can also freeze it for up to two months.
