Tell me if these sweet daisies aren’t cute. I loved them from the start. You can make them with any type of jam or marmalade, and they will be delicious even with hazelnut or pistachio cream. Decide based on your personal taste. Perfect for breakfast or a snack or any other time of the day when you’re hit by that “craving for something sweet.” And they aren’t even hard to make. But there’s another very positive side. Since their dough is the same as the sweet flatbread, you can get two different recipes in one go. Not bad, right? I suggest how to do it within the recipe.

Ingredients for 16 Sweet Daisies

You can use the jam or marmalade of your choice. They can also be filled with hazelnut or pistachio cream.

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp instant dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • milk
  • brown sugar

Tools

  • 1 Hand Whisk
  • 1 Stand Mixer
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Small Glass
  • 1 Kitchen Spatula
  • Brush
  • 2 Baking Trays

Preparation of Sweet Daisies

  • Prepare the DOUGH following the sweet flatbread recipe found by clicking HERE. It’s the exact same dough. Since it needs to be divided into two parts, you can decide whether to make 16 sweet daisies or 8 daisies and one flatbread. I chose this second option.

  • Divide each half of the dough into eight equal pieces and shape eight balls.

  • Flatten each ball with the palm of your hand, then place a small glass in the center, pressing lightly to form an indentation.

  • Make eight cuts in the outer dough, then remove the glass and pinch each “petal” as shown in the photograph.

  • Finally, fill the central hole with your preferred jam or marmalade.

  • Gently lift the daisies with a floured spatula and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush them with milk and sprinkle the petals with brown sugar.

  • Bake the sweet daisies in a preheated static oven at 355°F for about 15 minutes. If you’ve made 16, you’ll need two batches. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Sweet daisies are best enjoyed warm. If you have leftovers, quickly reheat them in the oven the next day before eating. Enjoy! Paola
