Kinder Chocolate Bar Pie with Lattice

Kinder chocolate bar pie with lattice, a pie that makes kids and not only happy, perfect to prepare for breakfast. Making the kinder chocolate bar pie is really easy, just prepare a good pastry base, fill it with the bars, and cover with more pastry. To make it a bit more special, I tried to make a lattice cover, it was my first time trying it, mainly curious about the final result, so I went ahead quickly, not even paying too much attention to making perfect and even strips, but in the end, I liked the result and continued, obviously you can do much better by rolling the strips all to the same length and width. Let’s see how to prepare it.

Steps to prepare kinder chocolate bar pie

  • Let’s start preparing the pastry in advance. In a large bowl, put the cold butter from the fridge cut into cubes, work it with the sugar by hand, then add the flour with the baking powder and work until you get a sandy mixture.

  • Finally, add the medium eggs and vanilla extract and work until you get a homogeneous dough.

  • Let the pastry rest in the fridge for at least an hour.

  • Take the pastry back, work it a bit, and divide it into 2 parts.

  • Roll out the first dough, about 1/5 inches thick. Flour it well on one side and with the floured side cover the square or round pan of 20 cm.

  • Arrange the kinder bars all over the base, breaking them where whole ones do not fit.

  • Roll out the remaining pastry on a floured surface with a rolling pin, rolling it even thinner than the previous one, to get many strips for lattice. Or you can roll it out to the same thickness and cover directly without lattice.

  • To make the lattice, cut many strips, all equal, and longer than the side of the pan. Start by laying the first strip on the surface, then perpendicular to the first, lay the second, placing it at the start of the first. Lay the second strip, alternating the direction, and as there are more than two, you have to lift the previous strips, one yes and one no, before laying the strip, and then lower them again to create the lattice, but you will see it more easily in the video. Then cut the excess parts on the sides, level well with the rolling pin, and seal the edges well to prevent it from opening. Raise and close with this our pie, sealing the edges well.

  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 350°F for about 30-40 minutes until our pie is golden.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool, remove from the pan, slice and enjoy, truly delicious. Great from breakfast onwards.

Do not overwork the pastry to prevent it from becoming too hard.
