The lentil and pear salad with crispy bacon is a delicious main dish: we usually use lentils to make soups, but I assure you they are really tasty in a salad. I love adding fruit to salads because, although the combination may seem strange, the flavors blend perfectly, creating a well-balanced dish: the sweetness of the pears, the rich taste of bacon, and the lentils with their somewhat rustic touch create a combination I can only recommend you try. So take notes and try this lentil and pear salad.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 servings
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, Winter

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups cooked lentils
  • 1.75 oz sliced smoked bacon
  • 1 Williams pear
  • 1 tablespoon acacia honey
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste thyme

Tools

  • 1 28-centimeter Pan
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 Kitchen Spatula

Steps

  • In a well-heated non-stick pan, brown the smoked bacon slices without adding any seasoning, then place them on a sheet of absorbent paper to remove excess fat. Wash the pear, dry it, peel it, and cut it into cubes (if you have an untreated pear, you can also keep the peel). Cook it in the pan with a little water and the tablespoon of honey until it is soft (about 6/8 minutes, depending on how ripe the pear is). Add the lentils to the pan with the pears to flavor them. Turn off the heat, season with extra virgin olive oil, salt, and thyme. Complete the dish with crispy bacon pieces and serve.
