A recipe I have always loved but didn’t know its origins came from Vieste as can be deduced from the name. Actually, I have always called them stuffed mussels in sauce, but this year, going on vacation to the Gargano, I made this discovery, so from now on, I will call them by their name🤩! The mussels in the style of Vieste can be served as an appetizer or as a second course in a seafood menu!

  • cherry tomatoes
  • bell peppers (Red and yellow)

Steps

The preparation of mussels in the style of Vieste is very simple, watch the video HERE.

  • First, clean and wash the mussels well. In a pan, put some oil, garlic, and let it fry.

  • Add the chopped bell peppers and cook for a few minutes. Add the cherry tomatoes and mussels. Add the white wine,

  • cover and cook for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally. Once opened, let them cool down.

    Sauce preparation:

  • garlic and let it fry. Add the tomato sauce and cook for about 30 minutes.

  • Filling preparation:

    Combine the pecorino cheese, soaked (in the sauce released from the mussels) and then squeezed bread, eggs, parsley and mix. Add a little breadcrumbs to adjust the consistency

  • fill the mussels one by one. After about 30 minutes, put them in the sauce and continue cooking for another 15 minutes on low heat.

  • Finally, add the freshly chopped parsley.

  • Enjoy your meal!
