You can replace the oil with 10.5 tablespoons of melted butter.

You can substitute milk with a plant-based beverage of your choice.

You can replace the espresso with two tablespoons of instant coffee.

You can increase the sugar by 1/2 cup if you want a sweeter cake, especially if you are using instant coffee.

You can decorate with a coffee glaze made by mixing 1 3/4 cups of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of hot coffee in a bowl. If it’s too runny, you can add more sugar, while if it’s too thick, you can increase the amount of coffee.
