Ingredients

- 4 red onions (or Tropea)
- 1 tablespoon raw cane sugar
- 1.7 fl oz balsamic vinegar
- salt
- pepper
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (or butter)
- balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 cup water

- 1 Knife
- 1 Cutting Board
Steps
Let’s start preparing
Let’s start preparing the Caramelized Red Onions, peel the onions removing the ends and the skin and slice them
Put the onions in a pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and half a cup of waterCook with a lid for at least 15 minutes, turning them occasionally.
Remove the lid and continue cooking so that the water evaporates
As soon as they are soft, add the raw cane sugar and mix. You’ll see that in a few seconds they will start to caramelize.
Cook for another 5 minutes until the sugar is completely absorbed, caramelizing the onions.Now add the balsamic vinegar and let it evaporate completely,
Remove from the heat and let the caramelized red onions cool before transferring them to a serving dish and serving them cold or just warm.
