Chocolate Salami: the delicious dessert to share during the holidays.

The chocolate salami is one of the most delicious desserts in our pastry and one of the most well-known.

Very easy and quick to prepare, this dessert is ideal for the holidays. Its classic cylindrical shape (indeed reminiscent of the shape of the namesake sausage) is perfect for being offered in slices and consumed either as a dessert or at a buffet.

Moreover, it is a homemade dessert that you can gift to your loved ones. At Christmas, chocolate salami becomes a special treat for those with a sweet tooth, to be wrapped in transparent paper and tied with a rustic ribbon, like natural-color raffia, and decorated with a few sprigs of butcher’s broom or fir.

Its ingredients are very simple: chocolate, cookies, sugar, butter, and eggs. And a bit of powdered sugar to sprinkle on the delicious dessert, just like the classic coating of sausages. If you want to make your chocolate salami even more realistic, tie it with culinary string!

Preparation of chocolate salami

  • In a bowl, crumble the biscuits coarsely.

  • Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler. Once it has melted, remove from heat and let cool.

  • Pour the melted chocolate into the cream and mix well. Add the crumbled biscuits and knead everything together.

  • Place the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper and use a spatula to form a cylinder. Wrap it in the paper and seal the ends well.

Place the chocolate salami on a tray and let it rest in the refrigerator overnight.

  • After the resting time, remove the parchment paper and dust the chocolate salami with powdered sugar. Serve cut into thick slices.
