The delicious potato roll is a very appetizing rustic dish made with potatoes, ham, and cheese.
A tasty side dish to serve at home lunches or as an appetizer at dinners with friends and family.
The potatoes are cooked on a base of Parmesan cheese, which not only creates a crispy crust but also acts as a binder between them, allowing you to create the roll.
The heart of the roll is a filling of ham and melted mozzarella, which melts perfectly with the potatoes during baking, creating an irresistible contrast of textures.
This potato roll is perfect to serve hot, right out of the oven, to best savor the fusion of flavors and textures, but it is also great warm or reheated, always maintaining its comforting and rich nature.
The stuffed potato roll is liked by both adults and children and is a great way to get the little ones to eat potatoes.
Potatoes are a substantial food, and together with ham and mozzarella, they provide a combination of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, making it a nutritious dish.

Start by peeling the potatoes with a peeler. Then cut each potato into thin slices with a mandoline. Try to keep a uniform thickness for even cooking.
Line a baking tray (I used a 10 x 14-inch tray) with parchment paper and cover it entirely with grated Parmesan. Then place the potato slices side by side, overlapping one edge to cover every single space of the tray.
Salt and bake at 392°F in a static oven for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown. In an air fryer at 356°F for 10-15 minutes.
Remove the tray from the oven and let the potatoes cool so that the Parmesan hardens and acts as a binder to the potatoes.
Once cool, fill with the slices of cooked ham and shredded mozzarella, and roll up to form a roll.
Bake again at 392°F for 5 minutes in a static oven, while in air fryer mode at 356°F for 3 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
When the cheese is melted, the roll is ready.
Then take it out of the oven, slice it, and serve the oven-stuffed potato roll hot and …
enjoy from Barbara!
Storage and Tips
If you have trays of other sizes, adjust the quantities to use. The important thing is to follow the procedure. Use quality potatoes and if you can, buy them at farmers’ markets.
Thebaked potato roll can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. It’s advisable to heat it in the oven before serving to restore crispiness.
I do not recommend freezing it.
