How to Prepare Baked Au Gratin Potatoes
For this recipe, you can use ready-made béchamel sauce or prepare it by following my recipe on How to make béchamel. Peel the potatoes, wash them, and slice them very thinly with the help of a mandoline or vegetable slicer.
Spread some spoons of béchamel sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Make a layer of potatoes to cover the bottom, overlapping them slightly.
Place slices of cheese and diced cooked ham on top. Add 3-4 tablespoons of béchamel sauce as well.
Then cover with more slices of cheese, ham, and another few spoons of béchamel sauce.
Cover again with more potato slices. Spread the remaining béchamel sauce on top.
Sprinkle with plenty of grated Parmesan cheese. Bake the potatoes in a preheated static oven at 375°F for 30-35 minutes.
