Baked fennel and onions the simple and delicious side dish. Today I also prepared Baked Fennel with a simple and quick recipe. But to change things up and because I love onions, this time I added lots of onion slices to the fennel. The result was a tasty and special side dish, which I prepared in just a few minutes. Just thinly slice both the onions and the fennel and then sprinkle them with a simple and tasty breadcrumb coating. The fennel and onions are crunchy and so good that everyone loves them and they disappear in no time! For cooking, I’ll provide instructions for both the oven and air fryer. Ingredients for Baked Onions with Fennel
- 2 fennel bulbs
- 2 yellow onions (large)
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 sprig parsley
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- to taste salt
- 2 pinches pepper
How to prepare Baked Fennel and Onions
Clean the fennel by removing most of the stems, outer leaves, and the hard base. Wash them under running water. Slice them very thinly. Peel the onions and slice them very thinly. Mix the onion and fennel slices in a bowl.
Oil a baking dish. Place the onions and fennel inside in a not too thick layer. Add a pinch of salt and 2 pinches of pepper. Sprinkle the vegetables with breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
Finish the preparation with chopped parsley and finally a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Bake the Fennel in a preheated oven at 375°F in static mode for 24-25 minutes placing the dish in the center of the oven.
COOKING IN AIR FRYER: cook the gratin Fennel and onions in the air fryer at 365°F for 18-20 minutes
