Ingredients for Puff Pastries with Turnip Greens
- 14 oz turnip greens (cleaned)
- 1 cup béchamel sauce
- 1.76 oz Grana Padano cheese (grated)
- 8 slices mixed caciotta cheese (sliced)
- 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- to taste salt
How to prepare Turnip Greens Puff Pastries
Wash the turnip greens, drain them and cook in salted boiling water for about 10 minutes. Drain and let them cool. Transfer the turnip greens to a cutting board and coarsely chop with a knife. Transfer them to a bowl.
Add the grated cheese and béchamel sauce. Mix well. Roll out a sheet of rectangular puff pastry on the work surface. Divide the puff pastry into 8 rectangles. Mine measure 4 x 5.5 inches.
Divide the vegetable mixture over half of each of the 8 puff pastry rectangles. Place a slice of cheese on the filling. Fold the puff pastry to cover the filling. Seal all around using the tines of a fork.
Place the Turnip Greens Puff Pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make 3 cuts on each pastry and brush them with the beaten egg. Bake the Puff Pastries in a preheated static oven at 375°F for 20-22 minutes.
