Simple single-portion treats perfect for buffets! Various layers made with a light shortcrust pastry, alternating with chocolate cream layers, a delight! 😍 A very simple recipe to prepare that can be made a few days in advance since it needs some resting time.

Ingredients for the Layered Desserts with Chocolate Cream:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 5 cups flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/3 cups butter
  • rum flavor (Optional)

  • Base preparation:

    In a bowl, put the milk, oil, eggs, sugar, a pinch of salt, and mix.

  • Add the baking soda and flour, and mix and knead until you get a homogeneous dough. If needed, add a little more flour. Divide into three equal pieces. Roll out one piece at a time on a sheet of parchment paper. You should obtain a rectangle the size of the parchment paper.

  • Poke holes with a fork and bake at 320°F for about 15 minutes. Continue with the other two pieces in the same way. In a saucepan, put the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa, and mix.

  • Gradually add the milk while stirring. Bring to the heat to thicken, stirring. It will take a few minutes.

  • Once thickened, turn off the heat, then add the butter and rum flavor, and mix.

  • Cover with plastic wrap and let cool.

    Assembly:

    Place the first piece of cooked and cooled shortcrust pastry. Add a layer of cream (about 1/3 of the total), level it.

  • Place the second piece of shortcrust pastry, another layer of cream, the third piece of shortcrust pastry, then cover with the remaining cream.

  • Refrigerate overnight, the next day trim the edges, then cut to the desired size. Place them in paper cups and decorate with sugar sprinkles.
