Ingredients for Fennel with Milk

  • 3 fennel
  • 1 glass milk
  • 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.4 oz grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1.4 oz breadcrumbs
  • to taste salt

How to Prepare Oven-Baked Gratin Fennel

  • Clean the fennel by removing the outer leaves, stalks, and the harder base. Wash them and then cut them into thin slices. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and the fennel into a pan. Let the fennel cook over medium heat for 5-6 minutes, stirring often with a wooden spoon.

  • When the fennel is slightly softened, season with salt and pour the milk over the fennel. Cover the pan with a lid and let the fennel cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Stir them occasionally. At the end of cooking, the milk will be almost completely absorbed.

  • Transfer the fennel to a baking dish in a thin layer. Sprinkle the surface with the grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Drizzle with some oil and let the fennel cook in a static oven at 375°F for 15-16 minutes. Place the baking dish in the central part of the oven and set the oven to grill for the last few minutes of cooking.
