Ingredients for 5 Savory Puff Pastry Flowers

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 oz Grana Padano cheese, grated (or Parmigiano)
  • paprika
  • 3 green olives
  • milk
  • sesame seeds

Tools

  • Rolling pin
  • 1 Knife
  • Brush
  • 1 Baking tray

How to Make Savory Puff Pastry Flowers

  • Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and gently roll over it with a rolling pin.

  • Sprinkle it with the grated cheese and dust with paprika. You can adjust the amount of this spice to taste.

  • Then roll up the rectangle starting from the long side and seal the final edge well, pressing it lightly with your moistened fingers. Wrap it in the parchment paper provided in the package and place it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

  • After this time, cut the roll into five sections.

  • Then make four cuts on each section as shown in the photograph.

  • Gently open the puff pastry to form a flower and place half a green olive in the center of each flower.

  • Transfer the savory puff pastry flowers onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and place them in the refrigerator for another 15 minutes or so.

  • Finally, brush the surface of the flowers with some milk and sprinkle them with sesame seeds.

  • Bake the savory puff pastry flowers in a preheated static oven at 350°F for 15/20 minutes or until they are golden. Remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy! Paola
