And here are some more cookies to make for Trick or Treat night. I called them angry cookies, and the reason seems quite obvious since they are angry faces (angry in Italian means “arrabbiato”). They are made with the same dough as the ghost cookies and are just as easy and fun to prepare. For this reason, you might consider involving your children in their creation. As I mentioned, the dough is the same, so you could also think about dividing it in half and making both cookies simultaneously.

  • egg white (a few tablespoons if needed)
  • 2 tablespoons Marsala wine
  • 1 packet vanillin
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons chocolate chips

Tools

If you don’t have round cookie cutters, you can use piping bag nozzles.

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Sieve fine mesh
  • Plastic wrap
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • 1 Cookie cutter with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches
  • 2 Molds round: one small and one slightly larger
  • 2 Baking sheets

Preparation of angry cookies

  • Prepare the dough following the recipe described HERE.

  • Once the dough has been rolled out after resting in the fridge, cut out circles with a cookie cutter (or a glass) with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. Place them one by one on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Re-knead the scraps and roll them out until the dough is used up.

  • Then cut out the eyes with a small round mold and go over them with a second slightly larger round mold.

  • Then insert two chocolate chips to form the nose.

  • Lastly, with the tip of a small knife, draw a horizontal line, being careful not to cut through the cookie completely, then make many perpendicular slashes as shown in the photo.

  • Finally, carve above the eyes two furrowed eyebrows to emphasize the angry face.

  • You will need 2 baking sheets for 20 cookies.

  • Bake the angry cookies in a preheated static oven at 356°F for 15 minutes. Take them out of the oven and let them cool completely before touching them and transferring them to the serving plate. Enjoy! Paola
