How to prepare colored hard-boiled eggs?
Here is the easy procedure.
Start by boiling the eggs with a splash of vinegar for about 8 minutes. After boiling them for this time, set them aside to cool.
Now it’s time to prepare our 3 colorings:
Pink: you can use pre-boiled beets from the supermarket and puree them with an immersion blender, adding a little water.
Orange: hot water and turmeric powder.
Green: boil the spinach (frozen spinach works well) and blend it well with a bit of water using a hand blender.
Put the three mixtures into 3 different jars tall enough to hold the eggs; alternatively you can use deep bowls.
Now carefully peel the hard-boiled eggs and immerse them in the different colorings. Cover the jars with lids or cover the bowls with plastic wrap and let them rest for at least 5 hours. The longer you leave them immersed, the more the color will penetrate.
After the time has passed, remove the eggs and rinse them lightly before cutting them.
You can lightly sprinkle them with chives.
How far in advance can I prepare the eggs?
I recommend preparing the eggs the night before so you can leave them soaking in the colors all night and have them ready the next morning.
You can store the colored eggs in an airtight container and cut them shortly before serving.
