What are we making? Are you looking for new ideas? Great, because today I want to suggest a side dish that’s a bit different from the usual. It’s flat beans with cheese and sesame seeds. They are tasty and very easy to prepare and require few ingredients. If you don’t like sesame seeds, you can leave them out, but I think they’re perfect here. I love them and would put them everywhere. I really liked this dish. The pairing with cheese is perfect, as it melts and creates a delicious coating. Try them too!

Ingredients for Flat Beans with Cheese
- 10.5 oz flat beans
- 1 clove garlic
- 0.53 oz Grana Padano cheese, grated (or Parmesan)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- black pepper
Tools
- 1 Pot
- 1 Pan with lid
Preparation of Flat Beans with Cheese
Trim the flat beans, rinse them well under running water, and cut them into pieces.
Then blanch them for 5 minutes in salted boiling water.
In a pan, heat a few tablespoons of oil and sauté a peeled and halved clove of garlic. Let it sizzle for a moment, then add the flat beans and sauté them for a couple of minutes.
Add a generous pinch of salt, a hearty grind of black pepper, and a few tablespoons of water, then continue cooking for a few minutes until the flat beans are tender but still crisp. Stir occasionally.
Once cooked, turn off the heat, sprinkle the flat beans with the grated cheese, cover with a lid, and let them rest for a few minutes until the cheese has melted.
Finally, sprinkle with white sesame seeds.
Remove the garlic and serve the flat beans with cheese hot, warm, or at room temperature. Enjoy! Paola

Note
For those following a vegetarian diet, simply replace the Grana/Parmesan with a similar cheese made with vegetable rennet.
