FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) KOKOSMAKRONEN German Coconut Christmas Macarons
Can you make Kokosmakronen without wafer bases?
Yes! Wafers are optional and only serve to provide a sturdier base for the cookies. If you don’t have them, you can shape the Kokosmakronen directly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
How should they be stored?
Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. They will stay fresh for about 1 week. If you want to keep them longer, you can freeze them: just thaw at room temperature before serving.
Can I add extra ingredients to the mix?
Absolutely! You can customize the Kokosmakronen by adding chocolate chips, chopped almonds, or grated lemon/orange zest for a fresh touch. You can also dip them partially in melted dark chocolate after baking to make them even more delicious.
