Ham and Mozzarella Pockets
A quick and easy appetizer to make. Perfect for starting a family dinner or serving as a main course or at a buffet.
In fact, for those following a diet, it can be a protein-rich and light main course that suits the whole family’s tastes.
The ham, zucchini, and mozzarella pockets can also be made with bresaola, carpaccio, and the mozzarella can be replaced with feta.

Ingredients
Let’s go shopping
- 7 oz Parma ham PDO (or bresaola or carpaccio)
- 7 oz mozzarella (or feta or cream cheese)
- 7 oz grilled zucchini (see here how I prepare them in the oven)
Tools
What we need
- 1 Knife
- 1 Cutting Board
- 1 Plastic Wrap
- 1 Plate
Steps
Let’s make
It’s quick and easy: The first thing to do is grill the zucchini or bake them in the oven following my recipe, click here:
If you don’t want to turn on the oven, you can grill them on cast iron and season them to your liking
Now that the zucchini are ready, spread the slices of ham on a sheet of plastic wrap, overlap the slices to make the “wrap” more robust, and initially place pieces of mozzarella or feta, but not all of it.
Then spread grilled or oven-baked zucchini slices over the entire surface
Then, with the help of the plastic wrap, form a roll, and tighten at the ends as if it were a candy.
Transfer the roll to the fridge for at least 30 minutes or longer as you prefer, even a whole day if you need to prepare in advance.
After the time has passed, remove the roll from the fridge, and with a sharp knife or kitchen scissors, cut slices about 1 inch wide, which you will place on a serving plate.
Serve with the rest of the mozzarella cut into cubes all around.
The ham, zucchini, and mozzarella pockets are ready, now just enjoy them.
Storage
You can keep them in the fridge for only 2 days with plastic wrap.
