Ingredients for Zucchini Puff Pastry Roses

  • 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 1/2 zucchini
  • 1 to taste salt
  • 1 to taste freshly ground pepper (I use a mixed peppercorn blend)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Tools Needed for the Recipe

  • 1 Pastry Wheel
  • 1 Mandoline
  • 1 Muffin Pan

Preparation of Zucchini Puff Pastry Roses

  • Unroll the puff pastry. Cut it into 6 long strips using the pastry wheel.

  • On each strip, sprinkle a pinch of salt, some pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.

  • Clean, wash, and finely slice the zucchini. Place the zucchini slices on top of the puff pastry strips, allowing them to extend about 1/4 inch from the edge

  • Roll up from the narrow side and place the roses in the muffin pan (or alternatively in disposable molds), taking care to slightly press and seal the closing edge.

  • Preheat the oven to 480°F and bake in the hot oven for about 40/45 minutes, depending on the oven. Always check the cooking; once nicely golden, remove the roses from the oven and let them cool or chill before serving. Enjoy your meal!
