Ingredients for Zucchini Puff Pastry Roses

  • 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 1/2 zucchini
  • 1 to taste salt
  • 1 to taste freshly ground pepper (I use a mixed grain variety)
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Tools needed for the recipe

  • 1 Pastry Cutter Wheel
  • 1 Mandoline
  • 1 Muffin Tray

Preparation of Zucchini Puff Pastry Roses

  • Unroll the puff pastry. Cut 6 strips along the long side using the pastry cutter.

  • Add a pinch of salt, some pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil to each strip.

  • Clean, wash, and finely slice the zucchini. Place the zucchini slices on top of the puff pastry strips, letting them protrude about 1/4 inch from the edge.

  • Roll from the narrow side and place the roses in the muffin tin (or alternatively in disposable molds), being careful to slightly press and seal the closing edge.

  • Preheat the oven to 480°F and bake in the hot oven for about 40-45 minutes. Check the cooking time based on your oven. Once they are golden, remove the roses from the oven and let them cool or warm before serving. Enjoy your meal!
