Cinnamon, Ginger, and Orange Peel Decoction

You can’t imagine how intoxicating the aroma that fills the kitchen while preparing this cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel decoction is. It’s worth making just for this reason alone. If we then consider all the beneficial properties of its ingredients, the reasons to drink it become truly numerous. I’ve already talked a lot about ginger and cinnamon (click on the two words if you want to discover how good they are and what their properties are). Orange peels, besides scenting and flavoring the herbal tea, aid digestion. Ergo… this is a perfect decoction for those with digestive issues, but not only. Making it at home is very easy. Let me explain everything to you, and try it at the first opportunity. You’ll like it!

Ingredients for Cinnamon Decoction

In this preparation, you must use the peel of an organic untreated orange. Alternatively, dried orange peels that you can buy at any herbalist’s shop are also fine.

Do not use powdered cinnamon and ginger.

  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 0.2 oz fresh ginger (weight after peeling)
  • 0.35 oz orange peel (weight after peeling)
  • honey (optional)

Tools

  • 1 Saucepan with lid
  • 1 Strainer

Preparation of Cinnamon Decoction

  • Put the water in a saucepan along with a piece of cinnamon. Cover and bring to a boil.

  • Peel the ginger, slice it, and add it when the water boils. Put the lid on again and let it boil for 5/6 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, remove the white part from the orange peels and cut them into pieces.

  • Then put them in the saucepan with the other ingredients and let them boil for another four minutes.

  • After this time, strain everything through a small fine mesh strainer and enjoy immediately.

  • Optionally, you can sweeten this cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel decoction with a little honey, but it’s not necessary at all. Enjoy! Paola
