Dessert with Halva and Walnuts
A traditional Romanian dessert that is eaten on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. A layered dessert with a simple base made of water and flour and filled with an aromatic mix enriched with halva and walnuts, then left to rest until the next day. This recipe is vegan since it contains no milk, butter, or eggs. When I was little, I couldn’t wait for Christmas to eat this dessert.

Steps
Preparing the dessert with halva and walnuts is very simple, watch the video HERE.
Dough preparation:
In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and water, and knead until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Then cut it into small pieces and roll out one piece at a time, using a bit of flour. Roll out as thinly as possible. Do this with all.
Cook for a few minutes in a pan on both sides without using oil. Let cool completely.
Syrup preparation:
In a pot, mix water, sugar, halva, and a bit of lemon and orange zest.
Cook for a few minutes until the ingredients dissolve well. Add a bit of rum and/or flavor and mix.
Place a first piece, add about a ladle of syrup, and some chopped walnuts. Continue layering until all ingredients are used up.
Finally, place an upside-down plate to add weight and let it rest until the next day.
Enjoy your meal!
