Ingredients
- 4 sesame buns
- 1.1 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 Jalapeño peppers
- Half yellow onion
- 1 clove garlic (Whole)
- 1 glass water
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cumin
- A few drops Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch black pepper
- as needed extra virgin olive oil
Tools to use:
- 1 Pan
Steps
To prepare the Sloppy Joe sandwich, you first need to make a good sauté.
In a non-stick pan, sauté a garlic clove in extra virgin olive oil.
Next, add the ground beef and let it absorb the sauté flavors.
Without overdoing it, because the recipe will already be quite sweet and a little spicy, add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce.
Once the ground beef has changed color, remove the garlic and add the chopped onion and jalapeño pepper and let them sauté for a minute.
Ketchup to stew the ground beef.
Brown sugar and use a wooden spoon to mix well to combine all ingredients.
Cumin to enhance the flavor.
A bit more salt than usual because the Sloppy Joe sandwich will be quite sweet thanks to the ample ketchup we used earlier.
If desired, a pinch of black pepper or white pepper.
Extend everything with water to cook the meat well.
Stir occasionally to blend flavors well and cook with the lid on.
Let it cook on high heat for about 20 minutes.
When the filling for the Sloppy Joe sandwich is well-reduced and thick, turn off the heat and let it rest for about ten minutes.
Stuff the bun with only the freshly cooked ground beef, without adding anything else.
Serve the Sloppy Joe sandwich with sliced ripe tomato, with French fries or potato salad as per the original recipe.
