  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 4 Hours
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 6
  • Cooking methods: No cooking
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 5 Eggs (make sure the eggs are very fresh)
  • 1.1 lbs Mascarpone (if you want thicker tiramisu, use a firm mascarpone, if you prefer it creamier, use a softer one)
  • 5 tablespoons Sugar
  • 10.6 oz Ladyfingers
  • 4 cups Coffee (use unsweetened espresso coffee)
  • 1 to taste Unsweetened cocoa powder (to be used on the surface)

Tools

  • Electric whisk alternatively food processor
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Baking dish glass or single-serving cups

Preparation

  • To start, separate the yolks from the whites very well and place them in separate bowls.

  • Using the electric whisk (or food processor), whip the egg whites to stiff peaks and set aside.

  • Now whip the yolks well with the sugar until you obtain a fluffy and thick mixture.

  • In a nice large bowl, place the mascarpone and add the eggs, mixing everything perfectly, stirring from bottom to top.

  • Now add the whipped egg whites to the bowl with the mascarpone and eggs, mix from bottom to top (to avoid deflating the egg whites) until you obtain a homogeneous cream both in color and texture.

  • Now take 6 cups (or one large dish), quickly dip half of the cookies in the coffee (which must be unsweetened and well chilled) and place them at the base of the cups (or the dish).

  • Pour half of the cream (leaving the other half) over the coffee-soaked cookies, continue with more coffee-soaked cookies and finish filling the cups (or the large dish) with the remaining cream.

  • Cover the cups (or the large dish) with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before enjoying (if you prepare it the day before for the next day, it will be even better!).

  • Before serving the tiramisu, remove the plastic wrap and sprinkle the surface with unsweetened cocoa powder and enjoy your tiramisu!

That extra touch…

If you want to give an extra touch to the tiramisu, you can add 1 tablespoon of Irish cream liqueur to the mascarpone cream.
