Ingredients for the Easy and Tasty Flatbread with Oil Recipe

  • 2 3/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste Water at room temperature (I use about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 pinch Fine salt

Tools Needed for the Recipe

  • Kitchen Scale
  • Rolling Pin
  • Wooden Board
  • Bowl

Preparation

  • Take a bowl, add the flour and salt, and mix.

  • Now add the oil and, while stirring with a spoon, start adding the water. When you see that the dough becomes workable without sticking to your hands, stop adding water.

  • Transfer the oil flatbread dough onto a floured board and knead it until you get a smooth dough. Form a ball, put it in a freezer bag, seal it, and let the dough rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour before using it.

  • How to cook the flatbread with oil: after 1 hour of resting in the fridge, take the dough out, divide it into 6 equal parts, roll them out thinly, using a little flour, roll them all out.

  • Place a non-stick pan on high heat, and once it’s hot, cook one flatbread at a time for a few minutes on each side (about 4 minutes per side) until you see dark bubbles forming and the flatbread with oil is ready to be served, enjoy your meal!

  • You can enjoy the oil flatbreads filled with various cold cuts in a savory version or, if you want a sweet version, they are perfect with Nutella or jam. For those with cold cuts, you can do it this way: cook them not completely, then fill them with whatever you want, fold them, and bake them for a few minutes in a hot oven just before serving.

  • You can fill the flatbread with oil with easy baked eggplants and some slices of melting cheese!
