The microwave jar-cooked chicken strips, a main course cooked in a jar for a few minutes. Like the jar-cooked chicken with mushrooms and the jar-cooked oriental chicken, this recipe also becomes part of the ethnic jar-cooking recipes section. Many of you have asked me how to keep the chicken breast tender when cooked in a jar, as it can sometimes turn out a bit dry. The first trick is to place it frozen in the jar; sometimes I cut it into strips and put it in the freezer for half an hour before cooking it. The second trick for tender chicken is the accompanying vegetables and seasoning. These ingredients will help maintain the moisture of the chicken breast. If you were to cook chicken breast in jar cooking without seasoning or vegetables, you would end up with dry and chewy meat. For this recipe, I did not brown anything, as the peppers and chicken tend to release water, so I used a little flour, turning the liquid into a delicious cooking base. I paired it with jar-cooked pilaf rice, and how will you pair it?

- 5.5 oz chicken breast
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- Half fresh scallion
- 1 chili pepper
- Half tablespoon flour
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
What You Need to Cook Chicken in Jar
- 1 Microwave
- 1 Jar 500 ml with thin gasket
Procedure
Wash the bell pepper and cut it into strips, slice the scallion, and distribute the vegetables directly in the jar.
Cut the chicken breast into strips, flour it, and mix it with the vegetables.
Season with soy sauce, oil, vinegar, and chili pepper.
Clean the rim of the jar, close, and fasten. Shake the chicken with the vegetables in the jar to mix and distribute the ingredients.
Set the microwave to your tested power, I use 600 watts, and start cooking for 6 minutes.
At the end of the cooking, let the jar rest closed for at least 20 minutes. During the rest, the jar-cooked chicken strips will finish cooking, and a vacuum will form in the jar. When you’re ready to enjoy the chicken strips with vegetables, simply remove the clips, put the jar in the microwave, and heat at your power for about 3 minutes. If the jar is cold from the fridge, start with 2 minutes on defrost mode. This will prevent thermal shocks to the glass.
