Ingredients for Jar-Cooked Cereals
- 4.2 oz cereal mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 teaspoon curry
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 zucchini (about 1.3 lbs)
- 4 leaves basil
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 pinch salt
- 5 oz canned cannellini beans
- Half lemon (juice and zest)
- 1 bunch aromatic herbs (basil, mint, thyme, parsley)

- 1 Microwave Oven
- 2 Jars 1-liter with thin seal
- 1 Plate serving
Procedure
Pour the cereal mix into a jar and add the spices, salt, and water. Clean the rim of the jar, close and clip. Place the jar in the microwave and cook for 10 minutes at reduced power, I use 440 watts on a 600-watt tested power.
At the end of cooking, leave the jar closed for 20 minutes.
In the meantime, cut the zucchini into thick slices. Distribute them in the jar and season with garlic, basil, salt, and oil. Clean the rim of the jar, close and clip. Cook for 10 minutes at your tested power, I use 600 watts. At the end of cooking, leave the jar closed for 20 minutes.
When serving, season the cannellini beans with lemon juice and zest, washed and chopped aromatic herbs, and mix.
Place the beans in a corner of the plate. Open the jars and distribute the ingredients on the plate.
Additional Tips for the Unique Dish with Jar-Cooked Cereals
The jar-cooked cereal mix keeps for 5 days in the fridge. The jar-cooked zucchini keeps for 15 days in the fridge.
To open the jars, simply remove the clips and heat for about 4 minutes per jar. Pull the seal and serve.
Single Portions of Cereals and Zucchini
The recipe serves 2 people. If you prefer, you can cook in 500 ml jars by halving the quantities and cooking times.
