Fried Scamorza Bites, Easy Recipe

The fried scamorza bites are a super easy recipe to prepare, perfect for serving during your appetizers or starters or why not during a “homemade fast food” night. Crunchy and cheesy they’re delicious on their own simply flavored with sea salt flakes or accompanied by sweet and sour sauce, barbecue, or a good mustard.

Also try the other savory fried snacks on the blog, such as SALT COD FRITTERS, POTATO AND ONION FRITTERS, FISH FRITTERS or the delicious NEAPOLITAN PASTA FRITTATAS.

  • Begin the preparation of the fried scamorza bites by beating the eggs and thinning them with milk. Season the breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and, optionally, black pepper.

I used a coating like THIS, but you can easily use classic breadcrumbs. Panko, the Japanese breadcrumb, is also perfect for this recipe.

  • Place the all-purpose flour, the beaten eggs with milk, and the breadcrumbs in three separate bowls.

Coat the scamorza bites first in flour, then in the egg, and finally seal well with breadcrumbs.

  • Now proceed with a second coating to cover the scamorza bites well and prevent melted cheese from leaking out during frying.

Let the scamorza bites firm up in the freezer for 15 minutes.

  • Fry the scamorza bites in a pan or deep fryer at 340°F for 5 minutes.

I chose to use the fryer, here’s the one I have and I find it excellent –> Aigostar Agni 30HEY.

Serve the fried scamorza bites hot with sea salt flakes and your favorite sauce.

Tips: you can also bake the scamorza bites in a fan oven at 390°F for 8-10 minutes. They are perfect for freezing, just fry them for 3 minutes from frozen.
