Flatbread Skewers

Flatbread Skewers, a clever and tasty idea! I’ve been wanting to try them for a while and finally managed to! You can serve them as appetizers or a quick main dish. There are many recipes with flatbread we can make to take advantage of these light and versatile dough discs, like the flatbread pizza or flatbread baskets to fill in a thousand different ways. For today’s recipe, I used ready-made flatbread, but nothing stops you from making it at home with the olive oil flatbread dough. Consider that for an aperitif, 1/2 rolls per person is enough, and with this dose, you can make 5 skewers of 3 rolls each.

Ingredients

  • 10.5 oz flatbread
  • 6.3 oz bacon
  • 5.3 oz cheese
  • 1 Fryer

How to Make Flatbread Skewers

  • Start by cutting the flatbreads into strips about 1.18 inches wide, then set them aside.

  • Do the same with the cheese, they should be about 1.18 inches wide.

  • At this point, lay a slice of bacon on the work surface.

  • Place a strip of flatbread and a strip of cheese on top of the bacon, then roll tightly.

  • Take a wooden skewer and thread three flatbread rolls (you can add four, depending on the length of the skewer).

  • As a final step, bake in the air fryer without preheating it, for about 7-8 minutes at 356°F.

Storage for Flatbread Skewers

This is still a finger food, so it can be eaten warm, but my advice is to enjoy it hot and cheesy. As for storage, it’s best to consume them the same day, but if you want to store them, place them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 24 hours. If you don’t like bacon, you can replace it with other cold cuts such as cooked ham, salami, or speck.
