Orange Paste, also known as citrus paste, is a natural aroma that’s very easy to make at home. It’s used to flavor cakes, brioches, cookies, colomba, and panettones. Once ready, just add one or two teaspoons to your favorite dessert to give it an irresistible citrusy aroma. It’s an easy and quick recipe made with only 3 ingredients: oranges, lemon, and sugar.

- 1.3 lbs oranges
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 lemon (juice)

Let’s start preparing the Orange Paste, wash the oranges well.
Remove the ends, then cut them into large chunks and finally into small pieces. Pour the orange pieces into a bowl. Add the sugar and the juice of one lemon, mix well with a spoon.
Let it marinate for about 20 minutes until the sugar dissolves. Transfer the mixture to a pot. Cook over low heat for about 15 minutes after it starts boiling.
At the end of cooking, blend with the hand blender until you get a smooth and homogeneous cream.
Transfer the orange paste into previously sterilized glass jars.
Close with the lids and turn the jars upside down to create a vacuum. Here is your orange paste ready to be stored in the pantry.
