Christmas Stars with Jam

Today I’m sharing the recipe for these delicious Christmas stars with jam. For me, Christmas is the scent of cookies fresh from the oven, fried struffoli, mostaccioli, and laughter in the kitchen. Every year, I can’t miss my star cookie recipe, those crumbly treats with a hole in the center and filled with jam or Nutella. They look so beautiful and disappear quickly, one after the other.

Preparing these cookies is really simple: just mix all the ingredients, roll out the dough, and shape the stars with the appropriate cutters. Then make the classic hole in the center, bake them for 15 minutes, and once cooled, fill them with jam or Nutella for an even more delicious result.

Great for breakfast or snack time, accompanied by a good hot chocolate or to gift in a Christmas box. These cookies will bring a touch of fragrance and sweetness to your home.

  • Knead the dough with your hands. Once you have a smooth and soft dough, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes. This step helps to firm it up and make it easier to work with.

  • After the resting time, take out the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/5 inch (0.5 cm). Use a star-shaped cutter to cut out the cookies.

  • On half of the stars, make a hole in the center: you can use a small round cutter or even the cap of a small bottle. These will be the stars with the hole, which will go on top. Arrange all the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 340°F for 12-15 minutes until they are just golden at the edges.

  • Once baked, let them cool completely on a plate. When they are cold, take a star without a hole, spread a teaspoon of jam in the center, then place a star with a hole on top, pressing lightly to make them adhere. If you like, you can add a sprinkle of powdered sugar for an even more Christmas-like touch.

  • Your cookies are ready: crumbly, scenic, and so tasty.
