FULL TRAY of APPLES and JAM

FULL TRAY of APPLES and JAM, a quick and easy dessert perfect for breakfast or a snack, in the oven or air fryer, crisp and super soft.

The FULL TRAY of APPLES and JAM is a very easy and quick dessert, perfect when you want something good but don’t have time to knead. It’s made with shortcrust pastry, the pre-made one that everyone has in the fridge for “sweet emergencies,” and hides delightful layers of sliced apples and jam that, in the oven, become pure poetry!

It’s one of those desserts that never disappoints: crispy on the outside, soft and fruity on the inside, fragrant with apple, cinnamon, and vanilla. Perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even a light dessert after dinner (perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar on top… who can resist?).

I often make it when I have some slightly sad apples in the fridge and don’t want to throw them away: just slice them, add some apricot or peach jam, close the tray, and pop it in the oven. In 20 minutes you have a pastry-like dessert, but with practically zero effort.

This full tray of apples and jam is the perfect “lifesaver” dessert for any occasion: simple, quick, and with very few ingredients. It solves an impromptu breakfast, a delicious snack, or a last-minute treat for guests. In short, one of those desserts to write down and redo all year long ❤

Join me in the kitchen today, there’s the tray of apples and jam.

FAQ FULL TRAY of APPLES and JAM

  • Can I use puff pastry instead of shortcrust?

Of course! It will become even crispier and more golden, but a bit more “buttery.” Great if you serve it as a buffet dessert.

  • Which jam is best to use?

I love peach or apricot jam, but you can use cherry, fig, or mixed berries. Each variant completely changes the character of the dessert.

  • Can I prepare it in advance?

Yes, but the secret is to warm it slightly before serving, so the pastry becomes crispy again and the filling softens once more.

  • How do I serve the full tray of apples and jam?

In squares or slices, warm, with a dusting of powdered sugar. If you want to impress, add a spoonful of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
