PARMESAN and WALNUTS TARALLI

PARMESAN and WALNUTS TARALLI, crunchy, fragrant, and irresistible: a perfect savory snack for an aperitif or to accompany a glass of wine during the holidays. Made quickly with a few ingredients and no mixer, they always disappear in no time!

I have to admit: every Christmas, I promise myself not to overdo it with appetizers… and I inevitably end up making these taralli too. How can you resist parmesan taralli, crumbly and tasty, with that crunchy touch from the chopped walnuts? They’re perfect for snacking anytime, even while watching a movie or waiting for midnight.

The aroma from the oven is pure magic: parmesan, good oil, walnuts, and a pinch of pepper or rosemary (yes, you can add it if you like!). They are without leavening, so they are made in just a few minutes and can be prepared at the last moment. And if you want to make them even prettier for gifting, just put them in a clear bag with a red ribbon: a lovely idea for Christmas food gifts!

You only need a few ingredients: flour, grated parmesan, chopped walnuts, extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, and enough water to form the dough. Shape the taralli, bake them, and in less than half an hour, you have crispy and tasty snacks to serve hot or cold.

I love them just warm, when you can still smell all the cheese aroma. If you want a stronger taste, add a pinch of black pepper or sweet paprika: they completely change character and become perfect for an aperitif with friends.

In short, if you’re looking for a tasty and quick snack to impress everyone during the holidays or simply to accompany a good glass of wine, these parmesan and walnut taralli are the right choice: easy, genuine, and with that rustic flavor that evokes home and conviviality. Trust me, one leads to another… and I always end up making double!

  • Can I substitute the walnuts with other nuts?

Absolutely! Almonds, hazelnuts, or even pistachios: just make sure to toast them first to enhance their flavor.

Yes, but they will lose some of their character. You can use another aged grated cheese or a lactose-free version instead.
