CRUMBLED APPLE AND JAM CAKE, simple and quick dessert for breakfast or a snack, delicious autumn recipe, a delightful idea that melts in your mouth.
The other afternoon, I was thinking of a dessert a little different from usual, something that wasn’t the usual flat cake but not too complicated either. Opening the fridge, there were the apples looking sad in the fruit basket and a jar of jam just asking to be used.
And so my crumbled apple and jam cake was born, an autumn dessert that smells of home, hot coffee, and lazy afternoons on the couch. Soft inside, crunchy on top, with a heart of jam that explodes at the first bite: in short, breakfast or snack heaven.
I decided to make it with the ‘crumbled’ method: no long kneading, no planetary mixer, just a bit of flour, cold butter, sugar, apples, and jam. The beauty? The texture is all to discover: crispy crumbs on top and a soft, fragrant, and enveloping interior.
Every time I bring it to the table, it disappears in a flash. The apple-jam-crispy crumb combination always works. It’s a dessert that kids and adults alike enjoy, perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even as an impromptu dessert for surprise guests.

CRUMBLED APPLE AND JAM CAKE
Tips from an amateur pastry chef
Apples should be cut into small pieces and slightly floured, so they don’t release too much water during baking.
The best jam? Any autumn flavor: apricot, orange, or berries.
For a wow effect, you can add a sprinkle of cinnamon or ginger powder to the dough: fragrance guaranteed!
Use cold butter for the crumbles: this way the crumbs remain crunchy even after baking.
