Capricciosa Pizza with Pane Carasau in Air Fryer

Here I am with another recipe featuring Pane Carasau: the Capricciosa Pizza with Pane Carasau, cooked with my kitchen ally Air Fryer.

Pane Carasau is a typical Sardinian bread made from durum wheat semolina, a bread with very ancient origins, its preparation was a real family ritual. If you’ve followed me for other recipes, you’ve seen that Pane Carasau is extremely versatile, suitable for various preparations in the kitchen, not just as a bread substitute. On the blog, you’ll find many of my recipes like the Lasagne di Carasau with Ragu in Air Fryer and the Lasagna di Carasau with Artichokes and Ricotta with this ingredient which, besides being good when I’m short on time, saves dinner and lunch.

Today I didn’t have much time to prepare lunch, but I had all the ingredients to make a good pizza and anyway I had run out of yeast and still had some sheets of pane carasau: prepared in 10 minutes, cooked in 14, and devoured in 2!!

Having a big air fryer, I was able to use a 12 x 12 inch tray; if you have a smaller air fryer, you can make more trays that can fit in your fryer, the important thing is that the base layer is double. You can also substitute the ingredients with what you prefer or have at home, and if you don’t have tomato passata, I also have this white version Pane Carasau with Stracchino in Air Fryer, which is awesome!

Let’s go prepare this delicious Capricciosa Pizza with Pane Carasau in Air Fryer together.

Steps

  • Start by quickly wetting the Pane Carasau sheets and let them rest for a couple of minutes, just enough time to prepare the tomato passata with salt, oregano, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil in a bowl

  • Grease the tray you will use for cooking

  • Cover the tray with the first layer of sheets, even slightly overlapping them, season with salt and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil

  • Add the second layer of sheets and distribute the tomato passata

  • Add mushrooms, artichokes, and olives

  • Transfer the tray to the air fryer and cook at 338°F for 10 minutes

  • After the first cooking, remove the tray

  • Add the cooked ham

  • Finally add the mozzarella, I grated it julienne style, you can cut it into cubes or however you prefer.

  • Put the pizza back in the fryer and cook again at 338°F for 4 minutes, just enough time to melt the mozzarella

  • Here it is ready, serve it hot and… enjoy your meal!
