Air Fryer Egg Gratin

I don’t particularly like hard-boiled eggs, but I must admit that preparing them this way makes them very tasty. I prefer to eat eggs in the form of an Omelet or enriched with something that makes them more enticing, like Air Fryer Eggs with Speck and Air Fryer Eggs but sometimes, to bring something different to the table or simply because I need to go shopping and my pantry and refrigerator don’t offer me many alternatives, I end up cooking them hard-boiled … and so why not make them more inviting and appetizing???? Here is the recipe for Air Fryer Egg Gratin.

For the Air Fryer Egg Gratin, I also cooked the eggs in the air fryer, but if you prefer, use the traditional method. I enriched these eggs with sage-flavored onion, smoked ham, cooking cream, and Parmesan.

Shall we see how to prepare them? Then come with me…

Steps

How to prepare the Air Fryer Egg Gratin

  • Cooking hard-boiled eggs in an air fryer is very simple: just place the eggs directly on the grill and set the temperature and time. Usually, those who prepare hard-boiled eggs in the fryer cook them at 266°F for 15 minutes; I cooked them at 302°F for 13 minutes because my fryer has a minimum temperature set at 302°F, adjust it with your air fryer. Once ready, let them cool for a few minutes and remove the shell.

The alternative is to hard-boil them the classic way: immerse the eggs in cold water in a saucepan and bring them slowly to a boil. Cook for 8 minutes from boiling. Once ready, run them under cold water and remove the shell

  • While waiting for the eggs to cool, peel and slice the onion and let them soften in a small pan with a dash of oil and sage; season with salt

  • Remove the shells from the eggs and slice them

  • Arrange the egg slices in the buttered baking dish, lightly salt them, and lay the cooked ham cut into pieces about the size of the eggs

  • Spread the onions on top, after removing the sage

  • Add 3 tablespoons of cream, 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan, and a grind of pepper

  • Repeat with this sequence until the ingredients are finished and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. With a dish of this size, you will get 2 layers

  • Place the dish in the fryer and cook at 356°F for 9 minutes or until the surface is golden

  • The Egg Gratin is ready
