Lasagna with meat sauce is a classic main dish, one of the most widespread and well-known in the world. What makes this recipe special is the use of Pane Carasau, which replaces the classic lasagna sheets… my Carasau Lasagna with Meat Sauce in the Air Fryer. Pane Carasau is a typical Sardinian bread made from durum wheat semolina, a bread with very ancient origins, its preparation was a real family ritual. You can also prepare snacks Pane Guttiau in Air Fryer or other versions Carasau Lasagna with Artichokes and Ricotta, delicate and good, which I recommend you try.

Preparing the Carasau Lasagna with Meat Sauce is very simple, you don’t need to wet the bread, just season it with the meat sauce and bechamel. You can prepare them in advance and cook them when needed.

Steps

How to prepare the Carasau Lasagna with Meat Sauce in Air Fryer

  • Prepare the bechamel by melting the butter in a small pot. Remove from the heat and add the flour, then mix well with the whisk. Put back on the heat and cook for a minute

  • Add the milk gradually until the bechamel thickens. Adjust the salt and add a pinch of pepper and nutmeg.

  • Chop the celery and carrot into small pieces and mince the onion. Put them in a pan with a good drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and let them soften

  • Once the vegetables are softened, add the ground meat and let it brown for a few minutes

  • Deglaze over high heat with the wine and let it evaporate
Pour in the tomato passata (I used datterino, but you can use any other type of passata) and add salt, cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for about 50 minutes

  • Assemble the lasagna in a baking pan or dish: start by covering the base of the pan with the bechamel

  • Form the layers by laying down the carasau sheets

  • Add the meat sauce and the bechamel

  • Sprinkle all the layers with plenty of grated Parmesan

  • Finish the last layer with bechamel, meat sauce, and Parmesan

  • Place the pan in the air fryer on the grill or shelf if you have an oven-type air fryer and cook at 340°F for 13 minutes

  • If necessary, increase the temperature in the last few minutes for extra crispiness

  • Enjoy the Carasau Lasagna with Meat Sauce hot
