Crispy Rolls in Air Fryer

Crispy Rolls in Air Fryer are a very tasty and delicious main dish. Just cover the meat roll with bacon and fill them with simple ingredients: breadcrumbs, grated pecorino, parsley, salt, pepper, and diced provola to make them even more delicious.

The crispy rolls in Air Fryer should be placed directly on the grill, so the bacon fat will drip into the drawer and make it extremely crispy and not dry. For this recipe, I chose pork leg slices, pork is flavorful and tender, and economical, but if you prefer, you can also use beef.

In the fryer, we can prepare many main dishes, I assure you that the result is really excellent, the meat remains soft and succulent like the delicious Lemon Chicken Thighs or the Beef Skirt Steak in Air Fryer.

Crispy Rolls in Air Fryer
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 5 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients

  • 5 slices pork steaks (leg)
  • 4.2 oz bacon
  • 1.4 oz breadcrumbs
  • 0.7 oz pecorino romano (grated)
  • 2.1 oz provola (diced)
  • q.b. chopped parsley (fresh)
  • q.b. salt and pepper
  • 0.7 oz extra virgin olive oil

Tools

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Meat Tenderizer
  • 1 Bowl

Steps

  • First, flatten the steaks with the meat tenderizer and set aside

  • Chop the parsley if you use fresh like me. Take a bowl and add the pecorino, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Mix and blend the ingredients well. The mixture should be a little moist, not too dry. Also, prepare the diced provola

  • On a work surface or cutting board, lay out the meat and insert the filling leaving some space at the edges

  • Insert a few pieces of provola

  • Close the side edges of the meat and roll it up

  • You will get a bundle. Continue this sequence until you have used all the ingredients

  • This is the roll ready to be wrapped in bacon

  • Lay out the bacon, you will need 2 or 3 slices depending on the width

  • Place the roll on top, start rolling the initial part of the bacon, and insert another slice around, finish wrapping the entire roll

  • Repeat the sequence for all the rolls and, once ready, place them on the air fryer grill with the bacon seam side down, so the fat will drip and the bacon will become crispy

  • Cook at 360°F for 10 minutes, raise the temperature to 390°F, and continue for 3 minutes to add even more crispiness

  • These are the rolls at the end of cooking

  • Too good!

You can replace the provola with other types of cheese. I used Barbagia bacon, a local product from my area, you can replace it with other types of slab bacon
