Pork Chops with Onions and Red Wine

The recipe for pork chops with onions and red wine is a main course that can be prepared in a few minutes with few ingredients: onions and red wine for delicious and succulent meat. Few steps and short cooking times.

It is not necessary to use an expensive wine, just a glass of a full-bodied wine; for this recipe, I used a negroamaro. For the onion, I chose red ones which add a touch of sweetness to the dish, combined with the wine to give a very inviting and tasty aroma.

These chops are a great alternative to the classic grilled cooking, especially for those, like me, who do not particularly enjoy this type of cooking. Pork is among the most common meats on our tables, allowing us to create various dishes such as Pork Roast with Apple Sauce or Pork Stew with Mushrooms.

Ingredients

  • 3 pork chops
  • 1 red onion (one large or two small)
  • 1 glass red wine
  • as needed extra virgin olive oil
  • as needed salt and pepper

Steps

  • Slice the onion and place it in a pan with a good amount of extra virgin olive oil and let it soften over low heat.

  • Once ready, add the chops and sear them on both sides

  • Pour in the wine and let it evaporate over high heat. Lower the heat and add a small cup of water, season with salt and pepper, cover with a lid, and let cook for about 15 minutes. Add a little more water during cooking if necessary

  • The pork chops with onions and red wine are ready. Enjoy your meal
