Honey Chicken Wings in Air Fryer

Today I present an easy, fresh, and irresistible recipe: Honey Chicken Wings, in Air Fryer. A light yet full of character main course thanks to the marinade made of honey, lemon, garlic, chili, and mint: the honey caramelizes the surface, the lemon makes it fresh, the mint adds an aromatic touch and the chili provides the right liveliness. Simple, quick, and spectacular results every time!

This recipe is ideal for a delightful dinner, an appetizer with friends, or a night in front of the TV with something different than usual!

Cooking in Air Fryer is extraordinary: it keeps the chicken meat succulent and tender inside and extremely crispy outside. Moreover, it makes it healthier, thanks to the perforated grill, air fry, which allows the fats to drip into the bottom of the air fryer basket. You can also cook it in the oven, it will surely be good, but you won’t get the same result as cooking in the fryer.

  • 1 Baking Tray
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting Board

Steps

Preparation of Honey Chicken Wings in Air Fryer

  • Start with the chicken: the first thing to do is remove any remaining feathers by burning the fluff. You can do this over an open flame

  • Prepare the ingredients for the marinade: chop the garlic after removing the germ

  • Chop the chili

  • And the fresh mint leaves

  • Gather everything into a large bowl and add the honey

  • The juice and grated zest of the lemon

  • Add the EVO oil

  • Adjust with salt and pepper

  • Mix all the ingredients with a spoon

  • Add the chicken wings to the bowl, mix, and massage the wings with your hands

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the chicken wings rest in the refrigerator for 2/3 hours

  • After the resting time, transfer the chicken wings directly onto the perforated grill of your fryer and pour the marinade over them. Do not put them in any container, as it would slow down the cooking and might compromise the crispiness of the chicken by keeping it more moist

  • Start cooking with the air fry program at 356°F for about 20 minutes, adjusting based on the size of the wings and turning them halfway through for more even cooking

  • The wings should be golden, crispy, and caramelized.

  • Arrange the chicken wings on a serving plate and serve them with paprika potatoes, also cooked in the fryer at 392°F for 20 minutes, or with a mixed salad

Tips and Storage for Chicken Wings

The first tip I want to give you is about the container to use for marinating. It’s better to use a low, rectangular dish or baking tray, so the wings will marinate more evenly. You can also marinate the chicken wings in the morning and cook them in the evening.

Do not use too high temperatures, a maximum of 338°F / 356°F, as the honey caramelizes quickly, and you risk having the wings too cooked on the surface and not inside. Adjust the times based on the size of the wings.
Leftover wings can be stored in the fridge for 1-2 days and can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes: they will become crispy again as if freshly made!
