Here is a version of donuts, or rings, made with chicken! We are used to classic sweet donuts, but in this case, we will see how to make them in a savory version, using chicken and a few other ingredients. These chicken donuts are literally irresistible, each bite is a burst of flavor!
For cooking, we can choose frying, in the oven, or the air fryer: as you will see, with the latter you will get chicken donuts that look like fried ones but much more light and with a faster cooking time compared to the oven. Below you will find all three methods so you can choose your favorite.

- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 6 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Air Frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 14.1 oz chicken breast
- 3.5 oz caciotta cheese
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon hot paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- to taste flour
- to taste panko
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
Tools
- Air Fryer
Steps
Cut the chicken into small pieces. In a mixer, place the chicken, paprika, and salt. Blend for two minutes and pour the obtained mixture into a bowl. Add the grated caciotta, breadcrumbs and mix with your hands until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Form patties, flatten them slightly, and make a hole in the center to get rings.
Dip the chicken rings first in flour, then in eggs, and finally in panko.
Spray a bit of extra virgin olive oil and cook in the air fryer at 392°F for about 15-18 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking. Alternatively, you can bake them in the oven for 25 minutes or fry them in plenty of seed oil for a few minutes per side, until golden.
You can serve them as is or accompany them with a sauce: I mixed mayonnaise, ketchup, and paprika.
Enjoy your meal!
Tips for You
✔ I recommend cooking the chicken donuts directly in the basket of the air fryer without using parchment paper or trays: this way they will cook evenly thanks to the air passing from top to bottom through the basket holes.
✔ I recommend using a BBQ mesh to insert directly into the non-stick basket of your air fryer: the mesh protects the basket’s non-stick coating (which will remain like new) and allows the food to cook evenly, letting the air pass at 360 degrees. You can find it on Amazon by clicking here.
✔ Alternatively, you can use perforated parchment paper, which allows the air to pass from bottom to top. You can find it on Amazon by clicking here: link.
✔ For this recipe, I used the COSORI 4.7 air fryer, which you can find on Amazon by clicking here.
