Air Fryer Omelette

The air fryer omelette is one of the most easy and quick things to make. In fact, unlike the classic skillet omelette, there’s no need to flip it: just place all the ingredients in a container or in the appropriate parchment paper sheets and cook. Easier than that?

Once you try the air fryer omelette, you’ll make it again and again. This recipe also allows you to add any ingredient you like. In this case, I opted for cherry tomatoes, onion, and cheese, but anything else you like will do, such as bell peppers, zucchini, or even cold cuts.

The air fryer omelette cooks in 15 minutes, just enough time to set the table while it cooks on its own without having to do anything. I recommend using parchment paper containers for air fryers, very useful for cooking omelettes or foods with liquids like in this case; you can find them here: AIR FRYER PARCHMENT PAPER CONTAINERS (100 pieces).
Also, I leave you an alternative cooking method in the OVEN: if you don’t have an air fryer but still want to try it, you will find the instructions for oven cooking below.

Steps

  • Place a container or a sheet of parchment paper for air fryer (if you don’t have them, I recommend these: PARCHMENT PAPER CONTAINERS – 100 pieces) in the basket and grease it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Add 4 eggs, beat them with a fork, and season with salt and pepper. Add the cherry tomatoes cut in half, the onion sliced, and the cheese (I cut it into small pieces). Cook at 356°F for about 13-15 minutes. There’s no need to flip it halfway through cooking.

  • OVEN ALTERNATIVE:
If you don’t have an air fryer and want to try it, you can also cook it in the oven. In this case, it is essential to use a container/pan about 8 inches (if you don’t have it, you can find it here: 8 INCH PAN). You can optionally line it with parchment paper. Follow the steps described above and bake in a preheated oven with fan or static at 374°F for about 20-25 minutes.

Serve hot and gooey or cold. Enjoy your meal!

Tips for you

✔ To cook the omelette in the air fryer, I recommend using parchment paper containers suitable for air fryers. They are available in packs of 100 pieces here: PARCHMENT PAPER CONTAINERS.

✔ If you prefer to bake it in the oven, you will need a suitable container approximately 8 inches; in this case, I recommend this one: 8 INCH PAN.

✔ As you can imagine, it is necessary to use a container/parchment paper to cook the omelette in the air fryer. Without it, of course, everything would drip through the holes in the basket. Parchment paper is recommended only for cooking dishes like omelettes, lasagne, or foods with liquids; it’s not forbidden, but it should be used only in these cases. For fries, using parchment paper can result in the food being moist and not crispy, or unevenly cooked (read below in the FAQs).

✔ Also, the air fryer used for this recipe HAS ONLY ONE HEATING ELEMENT. So no worries: it cooks evenly, and the bottom will be cooked as well, it just won’t be as golden as in the oven.

✔ For this recipe, I used the COSORI 4.7 air fryer that you can find on Amazon here.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Can I use parchment paper? Or is it not suitable for the air fryer?

Parchment paper should be used for certain foods and not for all cooking methods. It is suitable for cooking omelettes, parmigianas, lasagnas, or foods that have liquids or melting cheese. Do not use it for frying or foods that need to be crispy. Parchment paper is NOT FORBIDDEN in the air fryer, despite some instruction manuals stating otherwise: this is often due to a transcription and/or translation error, or generally, it is not advised because foods remain moister and will not be obviously crispy. For this reason, it should be used only for certain foods and not for everything. Moreover, using it TO AVOID MESS is incorrect: this method simply leads to uneven cooking when you want crispness in foods.

  • My air fryer has only one heating element. Will it still cook properly?

Yes, the air fryer used for this recipe has only one heating element, and I assure you that it cooks evenly as well. Obviously, the bottom won’t have the crispy finish typical of pan or oven cooking, having only an upper heating element, but it will be well cooked. Furthermore, most air fryers feature only one upper heating element, and only a few (rare) models have a lower one.
