Potato Roses in Air Fryer

The potato roses are beautiful to look at, delicious, and easy to make. They are prepared in just a few minutes and are very tasty. Just cut the slices very thin and add the spices we like most: they will be irresistible. We can use the air fryer for even faster cooking, but alternatively, you can also make them in the oven (all instructions are below in the recipe).
Making them is really super easy. To make these beautiful roses, you will need very few ingredients.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All Seasons

Ingredients

  • 14 oz potatoes
  • to taste spicy paprika
  • to taste chives
  • to taste sage
  • to taste salt
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste rosemary
  • 10 leaves basil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • to taste salt
  • 1 egg
  • lemon juice

Tools

  • Air Fryer

Steps

  • First, peel, wash and soak the potatoes for half an hour (this way they’ll lose the starch). Dry them well and slice them very thin with the help of a mandoline.

Transfer the potatoes to a bowl and add salt, a drizzle of oil, and spices to taste. I used spicy paprika, sage, and chives.

Take some aluminum muffin cups and start creating our roses by placing the potato slices close to each other to create a real rose (video here). After creating our roses, place some rosemary on top to taste.

  • Put the roses in the air fryer basket and cook them at 375°F for about 20 minutes, until they are nice and golden and perfectly cooked. For oven cooking: after preheating, bake at 400°F for about 35-40 minutes.

I accompanied the roses with an easy-to-make basil mayonnaise.

  • In a tall and narrow container, add the basil leaves, a teaspoon of mustard, a pinch of salt, the egg, and the juice of half a lemon. Start blending using an immersion blender. After a few seconds, slowly pour in the vegetable oil (continuously blending) until you get a nice smooth and thick cream. The mayonnaise will be ready.

Tips for You

✔ I recommend preheating the air fryer for 2 minutes at 375°F.

✔ Check the cooking: the roses should be nice and golden, not burnt. They cook in about 20 minutes.

✔ The slices must be very thin. I used a mandoline to cut them: link.

✔ You can use the spices you like best to make them even more flavorful.

✔ You can use aluminum muffin cups or silicone muffin molds. In this case, they will be smaller and more roses will come out. You can find them here: link.

✔ For this recipe, I used the COSORI 4.7 air fryer which you can find on Amazon here.
