Thinking of the Most Romantic Holiday of the year and after watching an episode of Masterchef, I prepared these Valentine’s Day Club Sandwiches in a heart shape, filled with a tuna cream and sunny-side-up eggs.
Two simple preparations to fill this romantic sandwich to be served as a starter or appetizer for the Valentine’s Day Dinner. If you don’t have a heart-shaped cookie cutter, you can get one by purchasing it through the link I provided or do as I did. With the help of a coffee cup, a blank sheet of paper and a pen, I made two medium-sized hearts. Considering that they will become two Club Sandwiches, they should not be too small, otherwise you won’t be able to fill them as you wish.
I’m not giving you a difficult or unique recipe; it’s a romantic idea that you may not have thought of, just as I hadn’t before last night. So if you’re curious, discover my recipe, especially the tuna cream. I think everyone knows how to prepare sunny-side-up eggs, the only peculiarity is that I cooked them using a round pastry cutter placed directly in the pan.
If you like bread and its versatility in the kitchen, you cannot miss trying the appetizing starter I proposed on the blog: Stuffed Bread Envelopes with cheese and tomatoes. Surprise your guests with an appetizer dedicated to the TV show C’è Posta per Te! If you’re looking for an easy dessert to prepare, you should definitely save the recipe for Sweet Bread Envelopes with Nutella or jam if you prefer! Irresistible!

Ingredients
- 3 slices sandwich bread
- 2 eggs
- 2.8 oz tuna
- 4 taggiasca olives
- as needed mixed salad
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- as needed salt
- as needed black pepper
- as needed extra virgin olive oil
Tools
- 1 Pan
- 2 Cookie Cutters
- 1 Knife
- 1 Chopper
- 2 Spoons
- 1 Teaspoon
Steps
Let’s start the recipe with the part that was most complicated for me. I don’t have a heart-shaped cookie cutter so I took paper, pen, and a coffee cup and made my heart. Why a coffee cup? To make the top part of the heart, nice and round. Then I completed the heart freehand. With a sharp knife, I placed the shape over the sandwich bread and cut out 8 hearts. Four hearts for each Club Sandwich.
Now let’s move on to cooking the sunny-side-up eggs. Take a non-stick pan, place a round pastry cutter in the center, and pour extra virgin olive oil into the center. Break the egg inside and cover the pan with the lid. After a few minutes of cooking on low heat, follow the same procedure with the other egg. Once the eggs are ready, we can proceed to the tuna cream.
Take the chopper and pour one 2.8 oz can of tuna into it. Add half a tablespoon of ketchup, half a tablespoon of mayonnaise, three or four taggiasca olives, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and run the chopper until you have a nice cream.
Now we have all the necessary ingredients to assemble the Valentine’s Day Club Sandwiches. Place a slice of sandwich bread on a work surface, spread the tuna cream, place another slice of sandwich bread, and spread a bit of mayonnaise, the penultimate slice, and an egg that you will then cover with the last heart. If you want a wow effect like in the photo below, place 4 toothpicks to make the Cupid’s arrow.
All that’s left is to wish you a good appetite! See you in the next recipe!

As you can imagine, the Club Sandwich recipe has countless variations, from the American one to those from the rest of the world. From vegetarian to meat or fish versions, in short, the Club Sandwich can be filled as you prefer. I’ve just suggested my version with tuna and eggs, perfect for Valentine’s Day by giving it a heart shape.
