Preparation of the Braid with Chocolate Bar

If you want to use the same chocolate bar I used, you can purchase it by clicking here

  • To prepare our Braid with chocolate bar we need to start by preheating the oven to 350°F in static mode.

Spread our rectangular puff pastry on a surface and place the chocolate bar in the center.

  • Use the tip of a knife to slash the puff pastry diagonally as shown in the photo or video in the recipe.

Now start braiding the strips of puff pastry to form the classic braid.

  • Once the puff pastry is closed, you can either sprinkle with hazelnut crumbs and chocolate chips as I did, or brush the surface with a beaten egg yolk and some sugar.

  • Bake the braid with chocolate bar for about 30 minutes. Check the recommended baking time on your puff pastry roll package. Make sure it doesn’t darken too much on the outside.

  • You can serve the puff pastry braid with a dusting of powdered sugar or just as it is. I prefer it without, but let it cool for about ten minutes before serving so the inside chocolate has a chance to solidify a bit and not spill out onto the plate.

    Enjoy your meal!!!

Variations:

As mentioned in the introduction, let your imagination run wild with the chocolate bar inside, and you can also change the outer garnish: whether it’s hazelnut crumbs and chocolate chips, sugar crumbs with a dusting of cocoa, or almonds and cane sugar. Don’t limit yourself!
