Ring with Green Figs

Bea’s Recipes today presents the recipe for the Ring with Green Figs to celebrate the Sweet Season of Figs! I found this recipe a few weeks ago on the blog of the talented Marisa, My Know-How and I always trust her blindly, and having a dinner with my colleagues, I tried it immediately.

Needless to say, we made it disappear in seconds. Yesterday I got back to work to also present it to my readers who may not follow all the blogs, because you really have to try this ring!

The Ring with Figs is part of the Collection of Ring and Ring Cake Recipes of the blog Bea’s Recipes that you can read by clicking here.

Thinking about this recipe today, rereading the steps, relishing the memories, not even a week after your disappearance, makes you think about how fleeting life is. We miss you and will always miss you, dear Marisa!

Ingredients for a Ring with Green Figs:

  • 5 Figs (up to 6 figs, either green or black)
  • 4.23 oz Sugar
  • 5.29 oz Seed oil
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 7.05 oz All-purpose flour
  • 1.76 oz Potato starch
  • 1 packet Baking powder
  • as needed Powdered sugar
  • as needed Brown sugar

Tools to prepare the cake with figs:

Use a 26 cm (10-inch) ring mold, if you want an even taller and fluffier ring with figs you can use a 24 cm (9.5-inch) mold while keeping the same measurements.

  • Oven
  • Electric whisk
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Ring cake mold
  • 1 Spatula

Preparation of the Ring with Fresh Green Figs

  • First, we turn on the oven to 356°F; mine is always in static mode when I bake. If your oven is new and maintains the right temperature throughout cooking, you can also set it to degrees always in static mode.

We start preparing the ring cake with figs. Sift the flour and prepare all the necessary ingredients on the work surface as it is a very simple cake to prepare. Take the green figs or the classic black figs, both are fine, remove the outer part of the peel, being careful not to break them too much.

Now we move on to working with the electric whisks the eggs with the milk and the oil, practically the liquid components and a pinch of salt. For optimal results, beat the eggs well before adding the milk and seed oil.

We then add with a spoon the sugar, the flour, the potato starch, and finally the packet of baking powder.

Mix everything well; the mixture must be very compact otherwise during cooking the figs will sink to the bottom.

  • We take the ring mold; as I have already indicated, you can choose the 26 cm (10-inch) or the 24 cm (9.5-inch) size.

Now with seed oil or butter, if you prefer, grease the bottom and the edges of the mold. Then pour the mixture of our ring with fresh figs.

Place the figs on the surface, being careful that they do not sink too much and that the pieces are not too heavy. I divided the figs in half and then gently laid them on the central surface, as seen in the featured photo.

Sprinkle everything with brown sugar and bake at 338°F to 356°F for about 30 minutes. It might take 5 more minutes for most ovens; mine blasts heat at maximum power as it is over 20 years old, and the resistance is almost gone.

So always do the wood skewer test before turning off the oven and taking the cake out of the heat.

Let the Ring with Green Figs cool in the mold, and just before serving it to our guests, we can sprinkle it with powdered sugar. Not too much, otherwise you’ll cover the wow effect of the figs. As always, I await you for the next recipe and wish you

    Bon appétit!!!
