Today, I tried an easy and quick recipe to get a great side dish, tasty pan-fried fava beans. For the preparation of this dish, I adapted a recipe you already know and that I usually use to cook zucchini or tasty carrots in a pan. Given the excellent result of the dish and the versatility of the recipe, I could say that this solution fits well with the preparation of any side dish.
For the preparation of my dish, I used fava beans directly from grandma Sandra’s garden. If you don’t have the same luck, still use seasonal products that make the final quality of our dish better.
On my blog Le Ricette di Bea, you can find other recipes with fava beans: a main dish with fava beans, ciauscolo, and pecorino or a tasty savory snack. You can read both recipes by clicking on the blue links.

Preparation of Tasty Pan-Fried Fava Beans:
To prepare tasty pan-fried fava beans, the process is easier than you might think.
Start by removing the fava beans from their pods, then remove the outer skin, and wash the beans under running water. Take a non-stick pan and pour in some extra virgin olive oil, and begin to fry the finely chopped onion. Once the onion is slightly wilted, add the fava beans, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and add the cup of wine and the cup of water.
Put the lid on and let the fava beans cook over medium-low heat for at least fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, chop the parsley and add it, allowing the fava beans to cook for about 5 minutes. The cooking time of our side dish can vary based on the size of the fava beans; mine were cooked in about twenty minutes.
Enjoy your meal!!!
Tip: You can add a nice grating of pecorino cheese, classic or Roman, which is a bit tastier and saltier. After all, fava beans always go great with cheese!
